Bahamas is a beautiful island country in the Caribbean known for its turqoise water, sandy beaches, and of course the stunning Atlantis resort. This makes it a bucket list destination for many travelers.
Proximity to the US adds to its appeal for many of the US tourists. It’s only about an hour flight from Florida, which makes visiting is a breeze.
Visa
As of January 2023, US citizens visiting the Bahamas do not need a visa for stays of less 90 days (see The Bahamas International Travel Information). You will need a valid passport if you are flying in. Visitors from other countries should check the Bahamas Visa Information resource.
Currency
Bahamian currency is the Bahamian Dollar. The rate of exchange to the US Dollar is 1:1, so US currency is freely accepted in the Bahamas.
